PATH Intl (Professional Association
of Therapeutic Horsemanship International)
This is the premier site for information on equine-assisted activities.
PATH Intl is a national non-profit organization that promotes the benefit
of the horse for individuals with physical, emotional and learning disabilities.
For individuals with disabilities, equine-assisted activities have been
shown to improve muscle tone, balance, posture, coordination, motor
development as well as emotional well-being. And it's fun!
PATH Intl Centers
Just as other professions use accreditation and licensing systems to improve
the well-being of their industries, therapeutic equine professionals have
a distinction of their own thanks to PATH Intl's Premier Accredited Center
Program. The Premier Accredited Center Program offers PATH Intl
centers the chance to demonstrate their excellence in providing quality,
professional equine assisted activities. This voluntary process recognizes
PATH Intl centers that have met established industry standards. The accreditation
process is a peer review system in which trained volunteers visit and
evaluate centers in accordance with PATH Intl standards. Centers that
meet the accreditation requirements based on the administrative, facility,
program and applicable special interest standards become a Premier Accredited
Center for a period of five years. Centers must renew that accreditation
by the end of the fifth year.
